In the three years that we've been around, over 12,000 people have tuned in to our show and our podcast has been downloaded more than 30,000 thousand times. Now numbers aren't everything. Like my podcast producer, Noelia keeps telling me, especially in this podcasting business, right? Numbers aren't everything. But what these particular numbers tell me is that the stories we're sharing on this show are interesting and relevant to you. So thank you for listening.
This season of our podcast is all about discovery of places, stories, people, ideas, and concepts that make our world such an interesting one to live in. We're going to be bringing you more stories from around the world and really leaning into the storytelling on the show much more than we've ever done before.
You know, as a travel journalist, I'm really a storyteller first and over the past six years of working in this industry, I've developed a skill of finding interesting stories and of understanding what makes a story interesting. And so I'm really excited to be bringing some of these stories that I'm finding as I'm working out there in the field into the podcast as well. If you love to travel and if you want to learn more about fascinating people and places around the world who work in travel and beyond, this is a show for you. Each week, we're going to be bringing you stories from places near and far and sitting down with the world's most exciting travelers, journalists, creators, and people working in the travel space.
Guided by my years of working in the industry we'll also be meeting the people living in the Middle Eastern deserts, jamming with street artists in Chicago, and so much more.
This season, you're also going to hear from people like Esme Benjamin, an award winning writer, editor, and broadcaster based in New York, who is currently serving as the Editor in Chief of Full Time Travel.
You also hear from Emy Rodriguez Flores, a lifestyle and travel writer with more than 10 years of experience who's currently based in Barcelona.
And we have a few surprises and tricks tucked up our sleeves that I just can't wait to share with you starting next week.
And today I want to share with you a very, very exciting announcement.
If you know me personally or if you've listened to our show before or followed me on social media, you know how much I love the country of Jordan.
I first came to Jordan in 2017 for work and fell in love with the country and with its people immediately. I've been coming back to Jordan ever since, multiple times a year.
For weeks and months at a time, I've done a lot of coverage and stories from Jordan, and I've also built a community of friends there and even brought, group trips to Jordan as well. So you can really see how, uh, my love for Jordan really extends into all these various, circles of my life. So that is why it brings me absolute joy to announce that this season of our show is brought to you by Visit Jordan.
Jordan is a beautiful country in the Middle East that has something for everyone.
In a relatively small area, it packs diverse landscapes like the Mediterranean forests of Ajloun, Deep canyons in Wadi Dana, the mars like desert of Wadi Ram, my favorite place in Jordan, and the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth.
And the crossroads of trading routes for millennia, it has also a very fascinating history. The Nabataean civilization, the Umayyad civilization, the Romans, they've all made this place home. Jordanian food is rich, varied, and packed with flavor. I, for example, I absolutely love Mansaf. I can eat so much of that rice and meat dish.
And above all, the people of Jordan are welcoming and are some of the kindest people I've ever met in my travels.
If you've been listening to our show for a while, you know how much I love Jordan, and I couldn't be more excited right now to tell you. Ahlan wa sahlan, welcome, and be sure to visit myjordanjourney. com to learn more about this beautiful place. That's myjordanjourney. com.
We've partnered with Visit Jordan this season to bring you some really wonderful stories from Jordan. We'll be meeting my Bedouin friends in the desert of Wadi Rum. We'll be exploring the creative scene in Amman, the capital, and doing so much more around the idea of discovery and what it means to discover some of these wonderful elements of Jordan. And stay tuned for next week's episode in which we're going to go in depth into some of the reasons why I love Jordan so much and about my relationships with this beautiful place.
[00:05:53] YD: We've planned a lot of exciting episodes for you this season. I think you can hear it in my voice, how excited I am and how I just can't wait to share all of these episodes and stories and ideas with you.
Before we wrap up our announcement today, I have one thing I want to ask you to do.
